After finally accepting my old Minolta 370 SLR 35mm was unrepairable, I picked up a Canon Rebel T3 digital SLR. I've used digital cameras for years, although now-a-days my Iphone tends to be what I use most for day to day pics. I wasn't quite sure how well I would like a DSLR, but I'm actually liking it quite a lot.

I'm a amateur 3d modeler. I'm also a gamer and modder. My favorite game genres are FPS and RTS. My game modding interest drew me into modeling. I'm self-taught and have worked with 3DS max since v3 but currently I am using v9. Mainly because Max 9 supports the correct export format for the game I'm modding at the present. My models tend to stay relatively low poly to keep inline with the graphics requirements of the game. My weakness is creating realistic textures for my models.

I've also built and collected props and prop replicas for most of my adult life, primarily in the science-fiction genre. My main prop interests in that area are weapons and field equipment. At one time I had quite a large collection but years ago I had to sell pretty much all of it. Since that time I've slowly been building my collection back up although I've kept it restricted to replicas this time around. Not quite as expensive but just as enjoyable.

Favorite genre of music: Rock
Operating System: Win 7
MP3 player of choice: Iphone
Favorite cartoon character: Nathan Explosion & Brock Samson
Personal Quote: "Where's the chase & How Do I Cut To It"

eBay and PayPal. A big racket that uses questionable practices against its users. I've been a member of eBay for 16 years with a nice clean 100% positive feedback for both buying and selling. I've been with Paypal for 14 years without an issue, claim, or dispute. I'm not a big seller or buyer. I've always used eBay as it was intended to be used when it was created. As an online auction site created to help people sell their junk to a wider base. A internet classified or an online garage sale more or less. Now it's a online store that charges outrageous fees and has their own inhouse loan shark department (remember they do everything they can to force you to use paypal) to channel other peoples money through accounts they can earn interest off of while they hold it in stasis for your protection.

Can you tell I'm not a fan? I recently sold an item I didn't need anymore. Nothing big as far as price compared to what they want to see. Just $115. It sells and I go to use the funds to ship the item but Paypal is holding them for 21 days. Why? Oh because I haven't sold anything for quite a while and I'm considered a high risk. To get my money I need to ship the item, provide tracking, get feedback that all is well, and wait until they decide it's ok. Of course that isn't all. Oh no. Not all by a long shot. PayPal charges me $3.00. Maybe because they have to keep it from me for a week? Then eBay charges me $12.00 for letting me sell it with them. So now my $115 is down to $100, and $5 was for shipping so I come out, if and when I actually get paid by Paypal, with $95. My fault as I haven't paid attention to changes in policy. I mean why did I need to? I only sell very rarely. Learned my lesson.

I can honestly say that I will never use eBay to sell anything again. I'll probably occasionally buy something but only if I can't find it anywhere else. I only used paypal when dealing with eBay, so I'll be reducing what they steal from me as well. I don't expect anyone to feel my pain or change their habits until they themselves have had enough. But I do encourage all  who read this to google paypal horror stories. You'll find many documented instances of paypal holding people's funds for outrageous reasons and periods. A lot of those are for $1000s of dollars. There are other options for both eBay and PayPal. Do yourself a favor and check them out. You'll save money by moving away from both.
